How to add your menu in joomla cms
Joomla that is installed with example pages will have 5 main areas of menu and each follow almost the same concept . We will start with creating our menu in the main menu . This will be done in 5 simple steps which are pretty easy .
The following 5 step tips will show how to make your menu item . All steps explained with pictures for easier understanding .Before you start to make menu item , you need to have a content ready for the menu item to link it to the required page.
Step 1–Create a Content to link menu
Click on Content from menu bar , click new , give your content a name in the title bar .Let’s say we give it a name of eBay tips .Write a few words of content and click save .The window will close and you are brought back to content manger page .
The above three steps illustrated have to be created first before you can make your menu link.
Step2 –create new menu
After you have logged in to your administration page of Joomla , click on Menu from the menu bar at the top. Select main menu .You will be taken to the main menu manager page . Click on new. See picture below .
Step 3–Selecting menu type
On the menu item [New] page select Articles from Internal links , select the type of menu you want. For our illustration here , we are using Article Layout & Category List Layout type of menus .
Article List Layout : Content layout in a normal page with your menu linking to it.
Category List Layout : List of your contents will be in a table style where user can select the topic of their choice .The menu type in your menu page should be in list type to use this option
For our example , select Article Layout
Step 4–Input Name of Your Menu In Title bar
After your selection , you are brought to the Menu Item Article Layout page.
Input title you want to give to your menu . By default , new menu would be given the last place in the menu table .You can change the position later if you wish to.
STEP 5–Linking Menu to Content
On the right side of Menu Item page , you will see table for setting parameters. Select Basic Parameters , select your article , click select , click save .You have just added a menu to your menu list.This can be applied to different menu tables
